“NINEVEH”

It has been quite some time since I blogged about a dream as you can tell by the date of my last blog. However, I do know that I am compelled to write this. I know I named this blog “Nineveh’ but first, I would like to talk about the number eleven. Now I know it seems out of place, especially in accordance with the title but bear with me. I want to show you first how the number eleven led me to Nineveh. Because just as the number eleven has bulldozed its way into my life and pushed itself to the forefront of my psyche. It has caused a now urgent need to write this.

It was the number eleven everywhere or multiples thereof that has bulldozed its way into my life such as 44 or 55. Let me take you through one particularly haunting day with the number eleven. Keeping in mind the number eleven or multiples of eleven will only appear 5 times in 1 hour on a digital clock. So in a 24 hour day, it will appear 120 times, and in my waking hours I would have had a possible siting of eleven or multiples thereof only 75 times. Also keeping in mind it’s not only with time it’s with everything I see. It’s on license plates, on the back of trucks, on TV as random prices and so on. Everywhere there’s a number eleven I see it, as if I am compelled to view it at the moment it appears. Here’s how a day went with eleven:

I randomly woke up in the middle of the night and looked at the time on my phone and it said 3:33 am. It’s a little chilly in the house so I checked the thermostat and read 66 degrees. I woke up for the day and its 7:44 am. I take a trip to the grocery store and to my surprise, they are servicing number 44 at the deli. After checking out, I glance at my receipt and my total came to $15.11. On the way back home, the car directly ahead of me had a license plate number with 744 at the end. Later, I use my GPS to get to an address and my exit was 44, I see it randomly on commercials on road signs, every time I glance at the time, the weather, microwave, stove, cell phone, laptop; the number eleven or multiples thereof always appeared. It was as though eleven was a bull’s eye and my eyes were the target. I began to sigh.  I could do nothing but pray and wonder why I was seeing this and why this was at the forefront of my mind. 

I inquired of my sister concerning this, she said it has happened to her but she decided not to pay attention to it. I decided then that I could not avoid this or disregard it. I knew there was a reason why and I knew only God could reveal it to me. And he did by sending me a dream, and I call it “Nineveh.”

I’m in my childhood home and I’m sitting at the table eating fish. I am sitting at the north side of the table my father is at the south side of the table. Another family member whom of that I couldn’t recognize, sits to my right and my mother stands at my left or west side of the table.( keeping in mind my mother passed away in 2009)  I began to speak as if I’m making a speech and I began to say, “God cannot send the Angels to warn us because man would end up bowing down to worship the Angels.” And my mother says, “Yes this is true, but don’t forget about Nahum.” at that I immediately awoke.

Upon waking, I scrambled for my bible. As I turned the pages, there it was. A little known book in the Old Testament, nestled in between Micah and Habakkuk, was the Book of Nahum. This book was only three chapters long. I am ashamed to say, as a nineteen year born again Christian, I can’t recall reading this book in the Bible and if I had, I couldn’t have read it more than once. Shortly after I began reading, I was horrified and started to cry.

For those of you who are not familiar with the books of the bible, the book of Nahum tells the story of God’s judgement against the city of Nineveh. Many people may not have heard of Nineveh, however, I’m almost certain you’ve heard the story about Jonah being swallowed by the whale.  Now, if you were to ask people why Jonah was swallowed by the whale, they probably couldn’t tell you. According to the Bible, God sent the whale, Jonah’s biggest fear, for his rebellion for not wanting to preach to Nineveh. But then of course after the whale incident, Jonah preached to Nineveh, they repented and lived for a time at least.

In my dream, the person who stands at a table and speaks always has the most important thing to say, which in this case, was my mother. She directed me to a book in the bible I had completely forgotten about. In fact, she even says “don’t forget about Nahum” because it was crucial for me to know why. In my dream God revealed to me why I was being haunted by the number eleven. The number eleven has significance to it even on a biblical scale. Read the interpretation below of eleven taken from my Christian dream interpretation book:

ELEVEN- End; finish; final; incomplete; disorder;

Lawlessness. (Gen. 27: 9; 32: 33; Du. 11: 8;

Ex. 26: 7; Matt. 20: 9-12)

I believe God has raised up many Jonahs today. I am nowhere near special and in this case I desire no attention for myself. If it had not been for the elevens almost taking over my life, I too would have ignored him. I hated to be the bearer of bad news but I would rather bear it than get swallowed by the whale.  In my dream I speak to the fact that God will not send Angels but has basically raised up Jonahs to warn the people. Below will be my take on this experience:

The book of Nahum explains Gods plans for Nineveh. I never knew of the horrible plan of judgement God had in store for Nineveh until the haunting of the elevens. If you have not read the book of Nahum I urge you to read it now, because I believe America is Modern day Nineveh.

America like Nineveh sounds beautiful to the ears. Seven letters in each name, but wicked as the day is long. How odious of a smell must the wickedness of America have filled our God’s nose. With its “in your face” immoral acts so atrocious, the killing of children, and the blatant racism that has gone unchecked and unjudged by the unjust judges. The poor who suffered at the hands of those whose increase of materialism that could feed small countries, whose love of money truly is the root of all evil. Politicians devise evil laws to assert their will upon the meek and helpless so that they may better themselves with no regard to the poor. They are responsible for wanting to hinder and hurt instead of helping. Most of all, the evil I have seen and heard, the evil of the religious are the worst. The ones who carry crosses around their necks and bibles in their back pocket and sadly hating their neighbors who are Christians as well. How could you allow your racist hatred to spill onto the statues of our Lord and still call yourself one named of Christ? In that day he will say, “Depart from me you wicked servant I never knew you.” (Matt 7:23) You will not be untouched by his wrath, you will not be held blameless. "America!, you need to repent! Repent! Or you will make the judgement of Nineveh your own.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.( 2 Chronicles 7:14).

On a good note remember the lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble: and he knows them that trust in him. (Nahum 1:7)
