Twilight

Webster defines Twilight as an intermediate state that is not clearly defined or the light from the sky between full night and sunrise or from full light and sunset. And I bet you guys thought I was talking about Vampires. Nevertheless it is a time where strange things happen. In our household we call it twilight sleep and we have always known in our family even from children what Twilight sleep means but most of all what happens during this state.

Strange things happen during Twilight sleep I remember watching the Famous show called “the Twilight Zone” (the old version not the new) and there was an episode about a little girl who had slipped into another dimension in her bedroom; it was a good show but I believe art imitates life and I’m quite sure this has happened to someone, this has happened to us. I’m going to tell you a few stories in our household about what happened during Twilight.

The Angels

My first experience with twilight sleep was when I was about the age of 5 and a Angel was standing over me it’s hard to explain it, is was like viewing something 3 dimensionally you feel it and you see it from multiple vantage points, your own, the Angels and from a third vantage point outside of yourself . It took me years to describe this episode I only knew at the age of 5 it was the best feeling in the world I did not want to open my eyes because in doing so I would become fully awake and the angel would go away although my eyes were closed I could see and feel the angel starring down directly at me with a smile I could literally feel the smile. I was smiling too it felt like euphoria I have never felt like that since. And I knew the Angel was my angel and she was there to experience the wonder of me maybe the innocence of me and I have never experienced them like that ever since. Most importantly this happened within a space of seconds before you become fully awake from completely asleep. This is the Twilight.

My Mother experienced Twilight in the evening she was babysitting my then 5 and 6 year old niece and nephew and had fallen asleep. And yet again upon her semi awake state she saw with her spiritual eyes because her physical eyes were still closed a women in her home she could describe her very accurately she had a scarf on her head and she had on a simple dress she was looking at the children very sternly as if she was serious about watching the children as if she was there to babysit and fill in for a sleeping grandmother. My mother had not intended on falling asleep during babysitting but had been exhausted. Is was as if the Angel knew this and was there to help’ upon seeing her she became completely awake and with a start quickly called to my 6 year old nephew and said “who have you guys let in the house!” and my nephew looking at her confused and said “we haven’t let anyone in Grandma” My mother knew then what she had seen

The 4th dimension

My Sister Valerie had an experience during Twilight that disturbed her she actually woke up in the 4th dimension this is a place that looks like the place your from but is not, everything was turned inside out and upside down she distinctly knew this was not right and prayed that she would go back to sleep and wake up in the correct place in the known dimensional world we all are familiar with.

I vaguely remember waking up as a child on the other side of my wall I knew I was not in the right place everything appeared as though it was backwards and inside out you are completely paralyzed so you cannot move, it very scary and eerily quiet in this place. You pray to go back asleep and you do and are relieved when you’re back in the correct place.

There is a reason why we say prayers before we go to bed in the night we are vulnerable in every way we need G-d to protect us as we sleep there’s a dark side of sleeping and dreaming that I have only touched the tip of the iceberg on. But I know that I have G-ds protection. During the day and at night.
